When I first seriously encountered astrology, in the form of a library book called “Astrology for the Soul” by Jan Spiller, I became obsessed and threw myself into studying everything on the subject I could get my hands upon. A decade later, I am still at it, but now I understand I’ll never be done. It always felt like I had known the ancient art from a long time ago, and there was a sense of recognition with this wise, inclusive and magical tool for understanding the soul, the personality, the life purpose. Astrology has become, for me, the most incredible map to following my heart’s path.
What is Astrology?
Wikipedia explains astrology as “the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial objects as a means for divining information about human affairs and terrestrial events.”
From my perspective, astrology is a tool for knowing myself, understanding my purpose, strengths and challenges, as well as a guide for the energies I am dealing with at any point in time in my life. The birth chart is a blueprint for the exact time and place of birth that a soul chooses in order to best manifest it’s work and purpose in the world, and the transits indicate the energies currently playing out in the soul’s incarnation. It guides me, and my clients, in gaining a level of objectivity and understanding that is so often lost in the drama and intensity of life unfolding in the moment.
With understanding and detachment comes compassion, acceptance, forgiveness and the ability to access our intuitive wisdom. Self-knowledge, understanding and awareness are power – the power to respond to life instead of reacting to it; the power to choose to be the protagonist in our own lives, instead of mistakenly believing we are the victim.
If the wisdom contained in the words inscribed over the entrance to the temple at Delphi, “Know Thyself” is indeed the truth, then astrology is an incredible way of doing so. It is one of a myriad ways in which we are offered the opportunity to wake up to our full potential. I have found it to be valuable beyond expectation, and, if it resonates with you, perhaps you will too.
About Astrology Guidance Sessions
What can I expect from a session?
Using your birth chart as the guide, I like to start with understanding why you are having a reading and what you would like to gain from the experience. There is so much information in a chart that I find it useful to get specific about what’s brought you here, and how you may best be served and guided in tapping into your own wisdom. That’s why I refer to my readings often as astrological guidance sessions. The birth chart serves as a map, and, through interpretation, offers wisdom, insights and guidance that support your soul’s intention. The transits and progressions show the energies you are currently dealing with, which, when revealed, so often validate and strengthen your own intuitive knowings and urges.
While predictive astrology can point to the flavour of life’s entanglements, it can never ascertain with any accuracy exactly what form they will take or how we will respond – that is entirely, and always, up to us as sovereign beings with free will. It’s helpful to remember that astrologers are neither fortune-tellers or psychics necessarily, and your participation in the reading is vital – it’s about you after all!
So often, it’s not that we don’t know what to do, but more that we doubt our own wisdom. Having a safe place in which to express these ideas, explore the various aspects of yourself that perhaps haven’t been allowed acknowledgement, and being validated in what you know to be true at the deepest level, is healing. Oftentimes readings takes unexpected turns, and we may spend less time actually discussing your chart, but rather what needs to come up. Sometime all the chart does is open the door. And that’s alright.
One reading may be perfect for you and feel complete. Or you may want to take it further and that’s perfect too, whether the purpose is to understand your chart or astrology better, or to get an update on the current energies. There is an endless source of guidance and information in a chart, and you can take your journey with astrology as far as you like. With this in mind, I do offer follow up sessions at a reduced price for clients who want an on-going experience. I have found that the more we work with a chart, the richer and more valuable the experience and results.
What information is needed to draw up a birth chart?
- an accurate birth time
- birth date
- birth city
Sometimes a chart is changed by the birth time being out by even a couple of minutes. If you don’t have an accurate birth time (and mothers are notoriously inaccurate as an information source – wouldn’t you be?!) then you can often get an accurate birth time through muscle testing by a kinesiologist or through using a pendulum. A reading can be done without an accurate birth time, but it will be limited by this, as certain information will not be available.
What else might I need to know?
- Sessions take between 90 minutes and 2 hours
- They are done face to face or using Skype, Whatsapp or Facetime, either audio or video. I’m based on a farm in the amazing Natal Midlands in South Africa, so most of my sessions are on Skype, but you are so welcome to visit!
- You are welcome, and encouraged, to record the session. A lot can come up and, even if you take notes, you may miss something, so having the option to listen back is always helpful.
- The price of an initial reading is R750
- The price of a follow-up reading is R600
- The price includes one follow up email with any questions that may have arisen about the reading.
She has a deep understanding of the human psyche and is compassionate and wise. Her knowledge of astrology goes beyond textbook. She is able to feel into a chart, extract the essence and make the most meaningful connections. So much of what she shared during the readings resonated in my being and allowed me a clearer understanding of my thoughts, behaviours and patterns. Astrology is truly a blueprint of a person and Wendy has an amazing ability not only to read and understand the chart, but her wisdom and guidance support and encourage an unfolding of the Self.”
